Safety & Occupational Health Leader

Chemours is seeking a Safety & Occupational Health Leader to join our growing Safety team! This position will report directly to the Plant Manager in our Memphis, TN location.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to help ensure compliance with applicable Site, Corporate, State and Federal Safety related regulations and requirements.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, technical problem solving, training, improvement and implementation support for S&OH at high hazard chemical operations.
  • Interface with all site employees, corporate resources, regulatory agencies, unit operations, and be an active member of the site leadership team.
  • Work to improve systems, procedures, processes, individual capability and ownership around safety, occupational health, and process safety management.
  • Develop systems to manage safety and occupational health programs across the site.
  • Participate and assist in preparation of 1st and 2nd party safety and occupational health audits.
  • Provide chemical exposure and industrial hygiene assessments and appropriate PPE.
  • Participate in/facilitate incident investigations as required.
  • Guardian and owner for safety and OH procedures.
  • Maintain metrics (leading / lagging).
  • Review regulatory briefs when related to EHS and anticipate impact.
  • Participate in injury/illness management system and OSHA recordkeeping.
  • Actively participate on the site safety, ergonomics and OH networks.
  • Lead related programs including TSCA, Asbestos, Radiation, New Chemical Approvals, etc.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of safety and occupational health experience.
  • Strong problem solving & technical skills, with emphasis on Safety and Occupational Health.
  • Eager to learn from, guide, support and coach all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment as the situation requires.
  • Strong multi-task/organization skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (spreadsheets, Powerpoint).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit :

  • Bachelor s degree in Safety or Mainstream engineering degree with specialty Safety and Occupational Health preferred
  • High Hazard Process/High Risk experience
  • Experience with highly hazardous chemicals
  • Contractor Safety experience is a plus
  • Safety and Occupational Health Management experience
