Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Director for HR Systems, the Senior Analyst is the Service Offering Owner (SOO) for PeopleSoft Time and Labor and is a key position on the HR Systems Functional team. The SOO is responsible for managing the relationship with the vendor and with the Harvard business owners, working with the users to understand their needs and priorities, documenting and communicating the changes, and staying informed of the vendors road map and new functionality.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • As the Service Offering Owner (SOO) for PeopleSoft Time and Labor, regularly meets with the business partners, leads or attends user group meetings to identify business priorities and users needs. Attends conferences or webinars to be aware of the product road map and future functionality and brings the information to the business owners. Ensures that users requests (enhancements, fixes) are documented, prioritized and scheduled in the appropriate release. Works with the technical team and other SOOs to crossprioritize requests appropriately. During a release using the Agile methodology, manages the backlog for stories related to the service offering, ensures that high priority stories are scheduled in the appropriate sprint; flags timing or capacity issue. Provides subject matter expertise when a production support issue needs to be escalated to a SOO, or whenever needed by a user or a team member. Performs annual fit/gap analysis of vendor provided upgrades and patches for the service offering.
  • As a Senior Analyst, manages mediumsize projects on behalf of the HR Systems team. Manages the relationship with the business owners, works with all stakeholders to define the project s scope and project plan, monitors progress and deadlines. Leads or facilitates meetings with end users and business owners. Manages and/or supervises resources to ensure the tasks are completed on time. Assists with roll out strategy. Provides regular status update to the sponsors, business owners and managers, and identifies risks and escalates issues when appropriate. When needed for large projects, manages the project s budget and resources, including contingent workers.
  • Mentors other analysts in area of expertise by reviewing other analysts work, answering questions and conducting informal or formal training sessions.
  • Independently works on smaller scale projects as an individual contributor and/or project coordinator. Establishes and monitors the project plans deadlines. Participates in meetings with end users and business owners. Designs system solutions within the scope of the project; validates the solution with the users and other analysts/developers before implementing them. Ensures that the solution fits in the existing system design, is maintainable over time, and is understood by the users. Provides training to end users if needed. Documents the solution to ensure that other analysts can support it. Provides regular status updates to the product manager and escalates issues when appropriate.
  • Participates in releases: works independently to document, configure and test enhancements and fixes. Identifies and documents functional specifications and comprehensive test cases. Executes the test cases during System Testing (TST) and Integration testing (INT). Collaborates with the technical team, other analysts, and/or vendor to ensure complete integration of solutions across systems and areas. Signs off on testing. Works with endusers and vendors to obtain their sign off during testing, as appropriate. Provides enduser documentation and training if needed.
  • Participates in the teams production support activities: ensure that users requests and incidents are resolved within our SLAs.

Basic Qualifications

  • College degree required;
  • Minimum of 5 years of functional experience with the PeopleSoft HRMS application.

Additional Qualifications

  • Strong project management, organizational, analytical and communication skills are required.
  • Ability to synthesize business issues into technical solutions and clearly document business needs and solutions.
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Prior experience with PeopleSoft Time and Labor is preferred.
  • Prior experience at a University is a plus.
  • Prior experience with the Agile methodology and User Experience/Design Thinking is preferred.
  • Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor
