Duties & Responsibilities
Pier 1 Imports is now looking for a Senior Financial Analyst for our FP&A team. In this role, you will conduct various projects and analytics while working with several cross-functional groups throughout the organization. You will provide thorough analysis, gather data needed for reporting, and perform analysis of sales, margin, SG&A expenses, and capital expenditures. You will also prepare daily, weekly, and monthly forecasts and analytics to support the Company s global initiatives.
Collaborate with the FP&A team and senior executives to prepare the annual business plan for various cost centers, in which you are the FP&A partner.
Research variances from annual business plan, forecast and prior year in weekly/monthly/quarterly results working with various departments to explain variances and adjust future forecast as needed.
Lead financial, variance, and trending analysis for key profitability drivers and metrics. Interpret results and articulate actionable recommendations to maximize profitability and ensure financial targets are achieved.
Drive efficiencies in our processes through standardization and automation of dashboards, reports, and templates as well as calendar alignment around key dates and deadlines.
Prepare analysis on various P&L and cash components, such as operating expenses and capital expenditures; participate in the process and management of the capital process.
Participate in the monthly financial reporting processes, supporting managers in completion of reporting and variance analysis. Maintain and improve format and flexibility of reporting efficiencies.
Perform operational and financial analysis for corporate cost centers, stores, supply chain, marketing/ecommerce from various perspectives such as geographic location, sales volume, profitability to highlight trends, risks, and opportunities.
Education & Experience
Bachelor s Degree in Finance or Accounting
3+ years of relevant/progressive experience in financial analysis; prior retail experience a plus
Strategic thinker with excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and relationship building/collaborative skills
Effectively communicate at all levels and articulate ideas, financial results, and actionable recommendations
Expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, Hyperion Essbase/SmartView, financial modeling, and scenario/sensitivity analysis
