Senior Human Resources Assistant

SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, Human Resources-Labor Relations, to provide administrative support to the director of employee/labor relations and compliance, assistant manager of labor relations, and assistant manager of EO/AA; perform ad hoc administrative and project support duties in support of the policy and compliance specialist; handle complex and diverse duties for multiple projects and programs; and serve as a member of HR administrative team. Responsibilities include providing general administrative support for the Employee and Labor Relations and Compliance group; performing administrative duties related to union contracts, e.g., overseeing job postings, weekly union letters, and re-employment list updates; preparing wage increase calculations for unionized employees and processing increases, including merit review calculations; performing costing analyses for possible union increases; maintaining familiarity with union contract provisions and making recommendations to streamline administrative procedures; overseeing the unemployment compensation process, i.e., creating reports, routine correspondence, researching claims, overseeing payments, ensuring that deadlines are met, etc.; and gathering information for projects and for subpoena or other document requests. May assist and provide coverage for the administrative team.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: at least five years administrative office experience; excellent organizational, interpersonal, proofreading, editing, and writing skills; meticulous attention to detail; strong Excel and analytical skills; discretion and good judgment with confidential matters; and ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently in a very busy environment with frequent interruptions. Seek a self-starter who is comfortable handling a range of customer issues and can demonstrate initiative in identifying and developing solutions to problems. Proficiency with MS Office, FileMaker Pro, Brio Query and Web publishing applications desired. Knowledge of MIT accounting and online purchasing systems preferred. Job #17601-6
