POSITION SUMMARY Develops, grows and communicates a functional understanding of Parker products and services sold with our suppliers and customers. Influences suppliers behavior and commitment to quality, delivery and cost to supply the end user with a premiere customer experience. Works closely with suppliers to develop their capability to produce Parker products with repeatable and sustainable processes to ensure zero defects and on time delivery to need dates. Utilizes PMP, Six-Sigma, APQP and PPAP methods in everyday activities. Builds a culture of Premier Supplier Performance innovation and strategic supplier partnerships. Hosts and supports supplier Kaizen events conferences and symposiums. Generates and applies LEAN, Problem Solving and Innovative ideas to suppliers and the Supplier Development Organization. Ensures timely and efficient completion of detailed supplier engineering project phases or major projects to achieve division quality objectives. Plans, schedules, and coordinates efforts of the supplier development engineering staff or acts as an individual researcher or functional expert on projects with significant customers/suppliers and business impact. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Establish and grow supplier partnerships through training of contract requirements and customer expectations. Communicates supplier capabilities back to internal teams to assist in work transfer, long term agreements and cost reduction activities. 2. Monitors, delivery and quality performance, trends and corrective actions by coordinating with suppliers and seeking objective evidence. Ensures compliance to specified contractual and drawing requirements by performing supplier process verification audits and surveys. Develops and initiates programs to improve supplier performance and reduce risk. 3. Asses supplier capacity Business Health and Production Readiness. Determines supplier succession planning, growth potential and operational sustainability. 4. Refines and enhances products and processes by applying innovative continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to critical areas of a suppliers production (PCI). Grow and evolve the Continuous Improvement POL Database as a source of best practices. 5. Provides input on supplier capability, delivery and quality to product development teams; recommends producibility improvements by facilitating cross functional process reviews, addressing technical data packages, manufacturing methods, equipment, tooling and training at the supplier. 6. Initiate and train supplier in the PPAP process. Understands statistical process controls by reviewing and maintaining applicable supporting documents (DFMEA, PFMEA, Flow Charts, Control plans. Analyzes data by completing hypothesis, normal distribution, and process capability analysis tests (Minitab). Six-Sigma project portfolio management. 7. Assesses capability, delivery and quality performance (or cost-of-quality) using statistical and analytical methods. Devises and implements various statistical methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, reliability, and accuracy of products, processes, and production equipment at the supplier. 8. Represent Parker on supplier development projects. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities (e.g. continuous improvement). Develops project goals and objectives to complete complex or major supplier engineering projects by reviewing quality performance trends, statistical plans, cost estimates, quality plans, and conferring with management. Ensures project meets schedule, cost results, and technical expectations through effective project leadership. 9. Determines supplier engineering project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning staffing and resources, and reviewing bids from outside contractors. 10. Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements. Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems. 11. Controls project plan by reviewing design specifications, and plan or schedule changes, and recommending actions to achieve quality and customer service objectives. Controls project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts. 12. Applies and leads continuous improvement and quality focused initiatives for critical areas of production. 13. Interprets regulations, contracts, and company policy on areas applying to quality measures and standards. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, ensuring adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. 14. Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses. Analyzes proposed changes in methods and materials for cost and quality impacts. 15. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, reviewing publications, and/or participating in professional associations. 16. Acts as consultant to management on major matters. Establishes goals and objectives required to complete projects. Identifies mentoring needs. Trains and mentors less experienced employees. May provide leadership to others in department or to ad-hoc teams. May serve as functional expert. 17. Shares specialized knowledge with others. Represents company on specific projects. Interfaces with all agencies and customers as necessary to complete projects. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. JOB REQUIREMENTS QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Bachelors degree (BS) in Engineering or a related technical discipline. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through eight or more years of increasingly responsible related experience. American Society for Quality certification desired. Lean training desired. Six Sigma certification desired and will be required after start date. Comprehensive knowledge PPAP, APQP, SPC, PMP, general manufacturing processes of multiple commodities and quality engineering/assurance techniques, procedures, instruments, equipment, theories, principles and concepts and general business operations. Ability to apply and integrate knowledge of other related engineering areas to own areas of expertise. Comprehensive knowledge of, and ability to effectively assess and implement, quality and continuous improvement methods. Knowledge of aerospace industry or similar industry products and legal and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing plants. Ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement techniques to quality and manufacturing functions. Ability to work effectively with standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools, such as CAD/CAM systems or other computer aided manufacturing systems. Ability to work on complex technical problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors and solve a wide range of difficult problems in creative and effective ways and coordinate across multiple teams. Ability to establish goals and objectives to complete projects. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical policies and recommend changes to procedures. Ability to effectively negotiate, communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management; respond to significant inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities. Ability to work on a variety of problems of diverse scope and complexity where analysis and evaluation of various outcomes require tradeoffs and negotiation. Ability to solve a wide range of difficult problems utilizing six sigma methods and A3 reporting techniques that may require coordination across multiple teams.
