Sr. Director, Enterprise Architecture and Automation

American Specialty Health, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Director, Enterprise Architecture & Automation to join our Information Technology Operations department. This position will manage all activities related to Enterprise Architecture for Automation and Cloud, while maintaining the compliance/security and integrity of HIPAA and PHI data.

  • Cloud Architecture and Design and Development.
  • Provide end-to-end solution expertise to determine best architecture and cloud services to meet business needs.
  • Evaluate new vendor-specific cloud services and determine applicability to American Specialty Health.
  • Identify requirements and, when necessary, lead engineering efforts for in-house cloud tooling.
  • Immediate focus areas will be opportunities to use external cloud as a DR target, as an archival and backup target, as traditional IaaS as well as PaaS opportunities.
  • Develop highly available and resilient solution architectures including systems engineering, network engineering, multi-region and multi-account design strategies with strong security focus with boundary protection, data protection, enterprise grade management services with strong operational SLA’s.
  • Evaluate and identify appropriate Infrastructure platforms including frameworks and technology stacks for delivering the company’s services.
  • Responsible for recognizing business and end-user requirements and developing business processes that can be improved through service optimization technology.
  • Establishing and reporting on cloud governance metrics including performance, SLAs, utilization, costs, etc.
  • Collaborate with other architects to drive a consistent approach to cloud adoption across American Specialty Health.
  • Identify technology trends and evolving marketplace opportunities that may support or impede the success of the business.
  • Run workshops and provide best practice consultancy to customers.
  • Capture and share Infrastructure cloud architecture best practices between teams and other technical leaders.
  • Explore and develop new technical skills to be an effective ambassador for American Specialty Health.
  • Work with ASH teams and vendors on the latest developments to optimize performance and reduce costs.
  • Assess and develop both junior and senior level cloud engineers.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Science and Math or related discipline with an IT emphasis is required. A graduate degree in Computer Science/Engineering is a preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years IT Management or Director or above experience, with at least three (3) years of experience of developing highly available and resilient enterprise architecture solutions.
  • 10 + years of experience spanning at least two IT disciplines, including enterprise technical architecture, automation (end to end builds) network management, application development, or database management.
  • Hands-on experience (3-5 years) in migrating and rearchitecting on-premise applications to the cloud (originating from multiple locations).
  • Public cloud certification (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Hands-on experience with containers and container management: Docker and/or Kubernetes e.g. Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS).
  • Experience with infrastructure automation, continuous integration/deployment, database, security, networking, and cloud-based delivery models.
  • Experience implementing Cloud Governance (Auditing, Log management, Policies, Tagging, and Compliance).
  • Experience using database architectures, ETL, BI, Advanced Analytics, HA (Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL).
  • Experience with development of automation using Orchestration Tools.
  • Experience in a DevOps driven organization with close partnerships between Operational and Development teams.
  • Experience with HIPAA and PCI compliance required.
  • Technical team management experience including managing remote team members.
  • Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, engineering management and developers.
  • Financial and business acumen to help with business case development.

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to speak, see and hear other personnel and/or objects. Ability to communicate both in verbal and written form. Ability to travel within the facility. Capable of using a telephone and computer keyboard. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
