Mars Petcare is looking for a Supply Chain Industrial Engineer in Nashville, TN


Purpose of Role

This position is responsible for providing advanced analytics and optimization solutions to multiple functions within the supply chain. This role will be part of a functional team providing applications and tools, new research and insights. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for participating in engagement sessions and team collaboration events. In addition, this position is responsible for performing detailed and complex analyses of information from various sources to assist in managerial decisions as well as designing, developing and implementing tools and applications that lead to improved customer service and low logistics conversion costs (LCC). This position is also expected to create and lead projects that positively impact all aspects of Logistics performance, including transportation spend, warehousing, customer service and Do it Best initiatives. This position requires in depth knowledge of Supply Chain information systems in order to effectively analyze and recommend solutions across the network, to respond to the daily ad hoc information delivery requirements through the development of automated reporting as wells as develop tools that support the longer term strategy for the supply chain through mathematical based optimization, computer algorithms and heuristics.


As primary outputs, this position:

  • Fosters and develops working relationships within the Supply Chain, Customer Care, Demand Planning, S&F, Commercial, Regional Distribution Centers as well as third party customers.
  • Recognizes areas of opportunity for optimization within current supply chain process
  • Delivers high quality, robust applications, tools and insights to the business


The primary operational responsibilities and accountabilities include:

  • Develops recommendations and proposals that drive improvements to and support for the supply chain and the overall company strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date expertise for a broad range of technical, analytical and information systems skills through attendance of user groups, in-house training and outside seminars.
  • Develop process to collect and incorporate business updates to logistics cost to serve model
  • Develop ongoing model iterations to support key decision points in the future customer centric network
  • Participating in engagement sessions and team collaboration events

Key Functional Skills/Knowledge

  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of both input and final published cost and inventory models (internal to Mars Petcare or to Customers and Vendors)
  • Software Tools (within the standard desktop applications)
  • Knowledge management optimization and new decision support models
  • Strong analytical, decision quality and problem solving skills
  • Agility in Creativity, Innovation Management and Managing and Measuring Work
  • Broad and proficient knowledge of the product segment supply chain network
  • In depth understanding regional Customer dynamics
  • Strong influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Broad experience in the overall supply chain (planning, manufacturing, order management, physical logistics operations).
  • In-depth knowledge of all supply chain systems and data repositories.
  • Understanding of customer behaviour and understanding of customer expectations and key KPIs.
  • Understanding of distribution, transportation, inventory management, and warehousing.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in a supply chain, logistics or supply systems development.
  • BS/BA in Operations Research, Supply Chain, Computer Science, Industrial Systems Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven experience leading or developing system changes within a team
  • Intermediate working and application development skills in each of the following or their equivalents:
  • Microsoft Excel, Access, VBA
  • Modelling software (Llamasoft)
  • Dashboard development (Tableau)
  • SAP / JDA Enterprise Planning Software (APO, WMS, TMS systems)


Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in a supply chain, logistics or supply systems development within a CPG environment.
  • GUI development / Programming experience
  • Experience working with and application development within:
  • Microsoft SQL
