Job Description:

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide leadership to a diverse technology team of domain experts. Ensure strategic guidance and innovation thought leadership aligned with Global Technology vision, mission and strategic objectives.
  • Be an EHS ambassador and lead by example. Embrace Momentive's core values, drive a cultural of safety, continuous improvement and quality excellence within the Technology organization.
  • Drive an engaged and motivated organization through continuous and effective communication at all levels. Actively optimize the talent pipeline of leaders and individual contributions through hiring, training and development programs as well as cross fertilization of talent beyond the direct reporting line.
  • Contribute in establishing a cultural of collaborative innovation within Momentive Global Technology Team as well as all other relevant functions (marketing, ADEs, regulatory, manufacturing, finance, process technology, CI/quality, legal, CR&D, procurement, supply chain) as a member of Technology Leadership Team. Champion an open and inclusive organization, where partnership leads to a motivated, engaged and committed team.
  • Act as strong change agent. Challenge existing orthodoxies and encourage entrepreneurial thinking. Work with other functions, particularly marketing and global technology, to develop compelling technology strategies for each market segment which deliver a healthy pipeline of differentiated material solutions meeting the under-served needs of the vertical markets.
  • Demonstrate unprecedented customer focus. Interact with strategic customers and key accounts to help identify underlined customer needs in order to develop and deliver value add material solutions.
  • Strive for continuous improvement. Enable continuous Business growth through introduction of new differentiated material solutions while protecting and optimizing the core. Support existing products and process, improve product quality, material supply and reduce manufacturing cost.
  • Encourage peer accountability, holding others to high standards regarding engagement and execution. Drive effective planning and prioritization of projects to enable on-time delivery of new material technologies in the marketplace.
  • Ensure the accuracy of product composition information, maintained by product stewardship, and provide technology support to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Safeguard the Segment's IP portfolio (patents, trademarks and trade secrets). Ensure that new technologies are optimally protected, while maintaining the global IP portfolio in the most cost-efficient manner (including the protection of confidential information through the NDA/JDA process).

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or Materials Science with extensive experience in their field
  • At least 10 years of technical experience in new product, process or applications development expected
  • 10 years relevant technology leadership experience, managing teams of technical staff incl. technical leaders and domain experts
  • At least 10 years of experience in the silicones industry
  • Proficiency in experimental practices (DoE, statistical analysis, 6Sigma, …).
  • Knowledge of overseeing laboratory operations and the implementation of safe laboratory practices & regulations
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), familiar with SAP
  • Fluent in English

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience with products and technologies used in one or more of the markets served by the Agricultural and Process Industries Business Segments.
  • Experience with university/institutional collaboration and external funding solicitation is preferred.
  • Proven track record working within a global matrixed organization and overseeing a diverse culture global team
  • Portfolio management experience (able to develop and manage a broad portfolio of programs from the standpoint of technology and business maturity)
  • Experience in Intellectual property portfolio management.
