Telecommunications Operator

Job Description :Operates telephone switchboard console to process all incoming and outgoing calls, overhead pages, digital and alpha page and base radios. Complies with all CMC/DHK policies, code of ethics, standards of performance and HIPAA. Understands CMC/DHK mission statement to interact with all patients regardless of physical abilities, intellectual levels or ethnic diversity. Understands importance of immediate response of emergency situations and telecommunicators are often a vital link in saving a life. High school diploma or equivalent, switchboard and hospital environment experience preferred. Skills, knowledge and/or competencies needed are: computer and keyboarding experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to remain calm in stressful and emergency situations, follow written procedures accurately, speak pleasantly and clearly, and handle confidential information with maturity, sensitivity and discretion.
