The Senior UX/UI Designer is responsible for working with Product Design, Product Management, and Engineering to create the user experiences and user interfaces for our suite of educational software products. These are online products used by students, teachers, and school administrators in K-12 classrooms and school offices across the U.S.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and ease to the user experience for students and teachers using web-based educational software products
  • Define appropriate interaction models and evaluate their success
  • Create wireframes, storyboards, comps/mocks, user flows, process flows, and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas and solutions
  • Execute all visual design stages, from concepts to artifacts and assets for engineering
  • Iterate and clarify design ideas and prototypes throughout implementation by developers
  • Conduct concept and usability testing; gather and evaluate user feedback
  • Participate in team retrospectives, backlog grooming, and other Agile ceremonies and team meetings
  • Establish and promote UX/UI guidelines, best practices, and standards
  • Keep abreast of competitor products and industry trends


  • At least 5 years of UX/UI design experience
  • An excellent eye for design. You should know great web UI when you see it, and be able to explain why it s great (even if you didn t create it).
  • Proven web browser UI design experience; demonstrable UI design skills with a strong portfolio
  • Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, comps/mocks, user flows, process flows, and site maps
  • Up-to-date with the latest UX and UI trends, techniques, and technologies
  • Expertise in accessibility (WCAG) and usability standards
  • Proficiency in Figma or equivalent design tool
  • Adept at rapid prototyping of key concepts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex design and functionality concepts to business stakeholders, external customers, and technical personnel such as software developers and quality assurance engineers
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
  • Ability to take direction and produce results without being micromanaged
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping is a plus
  • Experience mentoring other designers is a plus
