Data Administrator

What you will do:

• Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures such as High-Availability and backups
• Implement customer requests
• Partner with Engineering and DevOps to build database and Big Data solutions for next-generation Cadent products
• Build a strong relationship with the development and operations teams to understand the code and data structures
• Ensure databases are being used for optimally, reviewing and influencing engineering decisions

Your background:

• BS degree in Computer Science preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Strong knowledge of Linux-based environments, shell scripting, job scheduling using crontabs (especially centos).
• Experience in handling/ maintaining/ administrating multi-terabyte enterprise level database infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with MySQL databases within production and QA environments including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, upgrades, schema changes, replications.
• Hands-on experience with AWS technologies – especially RDS.
• Experience in Hadoop / Cloudera installation, configuration, upgrading, backup/recovery, capacity planning, performance tweaking.
• Hands on experience in Vertica Analytical database, installation, configuration, upgrading, backup/recovery, capacity planning, performance tweaking and migrations.

Extra credit:

• AWS certifications are a plus
• Knowledge of issue tracking / task tracking software such as JIRA and have strong professional documentation skills.
• Knowledge of MS SQL Server
• Knowledge of web services, API, REST, etc
• Kubernetes implementation and management
