POSITION: Data Architect

CLIENT: Wawa        Location: Baltimore, PA 19063 Job Summary: The data architect will play a significant role in the development, optimization, and governance of Client conceptual and logical data systems. These systems include a mixture of systems and technologies spanning ERP technologies, traditional RDBMS and data warehouses, modern data analytics and machine learning, and NoSQL. This role will include providing roadmaps for data systems, data governance, and a hands-on approach to data-at-rest, data- in-motion, and system optimization. Principal Requirements: 1. Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve Client’s data following a cloud-first strategy 2. Lead a data transformation effort to migrate data from a multiplicity of technologies to align with a consistent, secure, forward-looking cloud solution 3. Direct and proven working experience with data management concepts and activities including an understanding of industry best practices for Data Sourcing, Key Data Elements, Data Quality Management, Metadata, and Enterprise Data Management Policy, Process, and Procedures 4. Experience in organizations with mature data governance capabilities, including standardized data vocabularies and related capabilities (business glossaries, data dictionaries, etc.) 5. Direct experience developing standardized data vocabularies across large organizations and multiple business units is strongly preferred 6. Experience with data issue identification, analysis, and remediation 7. Examine and identify database structural necessities by evaluating client operations, applications, and programming to meet 8. Assess database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations 9. Install and organize information systems to guarantee the Client’s desired functionality 10. Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams 11. Monitor the system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting and integrating new features 12. Recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems 13. Contribute to and produce standards for producing database solutions aligned to Client’s IT and architectural principles and policies 14. Educate staff members through training and individual support 15. Offer support by responding to systems in a timely manner Basic Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or relevant experience 2. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience 3. Strong knowledge of data structures, data modeling, and data mining 4. Demonstrated experience in relational database physical modeling, NoSQL database schema modeling, real- time data, structured and unstructured data analysis, business intelligence, machine learning, data profiling 5. Demonstrated ability to convert business requirements into conceptual and logical models 6. Demonstrated knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and tools 7. Expert knowledge in dimensional data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration/transformation methodologies 8. Knowledge of database technologies used by Client (MySQL, Mongo, Vertica, HDFS, Hive, SAP) 9. Knowledge of business intelligence tools used by Client (Tableau, Microstrategy) 10. Knowledge of data tools used by Client (C, PHP, Spark, Java, SAP, MuleSoft, DataStage, IBM Gentran) 11. Experience working in Agile 12. Prior participation in or leadership of data governance bodies 13. Outstanding problem-solving skills 14. Good written and verbal communication skills
