Database Administrator

• The client is looking to expand our Database Operations team. We are looking for a passionate DBA who can bring strong expertise to help transform/support our on-premise/Amazon/Azure database technologies (SQL Server/PostgreSQL Iaas/PaaS).
• The position requires you to be a team player for a small and focused DB Ops group that is responsible for architecting, designing, building, scaling and supporting RDBMS platforms.
• You will collaborate with the broader DevOps, Data Architecture and Engineering teams to deliver solutions, and drive change, in support of our mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Apply your depth of knowledge and experience towards enabling our business to transition to the cloud.
• Bring both relational and non-relational chops to help us build and maintain our SaaS data stores in the cloud (AWS/Azure).
• Ensure the continuous availability of our mission-critical systems.
• Help manage all aspects of our AWS/Azure instances and storage backing our cloud platforms.
• Conquer the day-to-day operational aspects of our systems:
• Performance monitoring/tuning
• HA/DR strategies
• Backup strategies
• Query tuning
• Cloud instance/storage design, provisioning, and performance monitoring
• On-prem to cloud migrations
• Automate routine tasks with your own scripts and open-source tools

Mandatory Skills:

• 5+ years of solid experience with designing, administrating and scaling SQL Server
• Experience with additional database platforms such as Postgres/CosmosDB/MongoDB
• Amazon/Azure proficiency
• Experience with large, high volume, mission-critical environments SaaS environments
• Passionate about solving business data problems

• Experience in an Agile or Scrum Environment
