DevOps Engineer

• You can juggle between coding a Groovy script, configuring SSL termination, and hacking a Kubernetes manifest without breaking a sweat.

• You are an infrastructure-as-code die-hard. If your Jenkins pipelines, Dockerfile, or AWS configuration aren’t committed in git, you can’t quietly fall asleep at night.

• You have a troubleshooting mentality and a general coolness - when things go south in production (and they always do), you know your way around.

• You strive to build tools and services that will enable engineering teams to work autonomously.

• You’re a dedicated person who can be counted on as a core team member.

Responsibilities:

• Build a cloud setup from scratch for deploying our Slack application architecture over AWS.

• Work with the latest and greatest technologies such as Kubernetes, Helm, Spinnaker.

• Build GitOps-driven CI/CD pipelines.

• Integrate monitoring, alerting, and observability tools into our stack.

• Work closely with the engineering team to define infrastructure needs and provide them with DevOps training.

• Take full ownership over production operations: on-call schedule, incident management, scaling challenges, etc.

• Build tools, documentation, and processes to support “self-serve” for other business units that will consume your architecture to deploy future Slack integrations.

Requirements:

• 3+ years DevOps/SRE hands-on experience.

• Significant experience in deploying applications on cloud vendors such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or Heroku.

• Significant experience in containerized application management using Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker.

• Experience in building GitOps CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins or CircleCI/Github Actions/similar tool.

• Experience with monitoring, tracing, and alerting tools.

• Programming experience in at least one general-purpose language (Python, Ruby, Groovy, Golang, etc.)

• A good understanding of networking, security, and protocols - HTTP, SSL/TLS, load balancing, caching, proxying.

• Familiarity with Unix, bash scripting, process management, file system, daemons.

• Familiarity with web server configuration (e.g. Nginx, Tomcat, Jetty, Apache).

• Team player with strong communication skills. Sorry, only fun people allowed :)

• Versatile mindset - willing to get your hands dirty in all parts of the stack.  

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience with Istio, Spinnaker, Terraform, an advantage.

• B.Sc. degree or higher in Computer Science or related field, an advantage.

• Startup experience, an advantage.
