Job Description :

Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Hydro Location: Wenatchee, WA Or Assigned work location in WA Duration: Long term (Multi year contract)

Summary: Perform moderately complex electrical engineering, analysis, and project management activities in the electrical power generation field. Plan, scope, schedule and conduct engineering work requiring independent judgment for a variety of projects and facilities such as hydroelectric plants, switchyards and substations.

Job Functions:

  • Perform electrical engineering design and analysis. Prepare cost estimates. Write technical purchase and construction specifications. Prepare material and/or labor bid document packages. Follow engineering QA/QC procedures. Respond to RFIs during construction and troubleshoot construction problems. Develop and implement inspection and testing plans. Inspect fabrication and construction activities, materials and work products. Lead project start up activities including training O&M staff.
  • Manage moderately complex projects or portions of larger complex projects from concept to close out. Develop and implement scopes, schedules and budgets. Set up and lead project teams including design engineers, consultants, contractors, construction inspectors, real property agents, skilled crafts workers, permitting specialists, purchasing agents, etc.
  • Communicate project progress to internal clients, supervisor and management. Write status and tracking reports. Lead progress meetings. Give presentations including project recommendations to teams, management groups and the Commission. Procure materials. Select consultants and manage consultant contracts. Negotiate agreements. Oversee preparation of bid documents.
  • Troubleshoot operations and maintenance problems at the request of transmissions system personnel. Clarify and pinpoint problems. Develop testing methods and alternatives. Provide alternative problem solutions. Write brief reports describing possible solutions and recommendations.

Required Skills:

  • Five (5) to eight (8) years experience, preferably related to hydro power generation, electric distribution or electric transmission systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering design and project management directly relating to the hydroelectric generation facilities, including switchyards, and distribution system substations, including a working knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of engineering, project management and construction, including methods, materials, equipment, techniques, technical software, schedules, specifications and contract documents.
  • knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials; PeopleSoft Timekeeping/HR; Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Word; Microsoft PowerPoint; Primavera; PC Hardware; General Office Equipment; and Power Equipment.
  • Pursuing or holding NERC CIP certificate or license

Education:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
