Cashier Job Description

Key responsibilities:

• Ascertain the amount of cash in the cash drawer at the start and end of every shift
• Receive payments for products sold
• Issue receipts to customers for products bought, including; refunds, credits and change to customers
• Assist customers by providing information on products
• Resolve customer complaints
• Keep records of transaction totals
• Maintain non-monetary records
• Greet customers upon entry and exit
• Ensure that the checkout area is clean at all times

Knowledge:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working in a gas station

Skills and abilities:

• Good communication skills
• Strong mathematical ability
• Customer service focus
• Ability to stand, bend, and reach throughout the shift, as well as lifting items ranging from 1 to 30lbs
