We’re looking for a mid-level Java consultant who will be upgrading Java 5/8 (Spring 2) applications that have old dependencies. We’d like to update them to the latest version of Java 8 and make sure all dependencies are updated to the latest supported versions and make sure the Web Apps and API’s work. We’d also like to update the deployment process for these applications to run in Kubernetes. The developer would work with our DevOps team to make this happen. Kubernetes experience desired but not required.
The developer should have experience setting up Maven based Java applications. Some of these apps are in Maven, but not all of them. Some may require extra work to setup Maven.
Java Developer independently work on older Java Spring applications (Originally written in Java 5, Spring 2) and convert Ant to Maven, update dependencies to current versions and make sure the web apps and APIs work. They’ll need to know how to run tomcat web server locally and get these projects to run on their own. They should be able to handle the Java upgrades
