Job Description :
- Database Engineer, Infrastructure DBA will be responsible for working with a diverse multi-
- faceted team that supports a multi-platform databases environment. This individual must
- possess general experience in production support and engineering of database
- infrastructure. The ideal candidate for this position must possess production operational
- experience in the management of multiple databases within a DevOps framework. This
- individual is responsible to for achieving an efficient technical infrastructure both on-prem and
- cloud, which includes appropriate tools to support production operations and will be a key
- contributor to a small team of highly talented professionals who are responsible for managing
- databases across a global enterprise.
Reporting Level :
- This position will report to the Sr. Manager of the Database Infrastructure product team.
Shift Schedule :
- This person will work in shifts
- On-call support including periodic after hours and weekend support responsibilities.
Responsibility :
- Proficient in Oracle EE RAC database installation, upgrade, patching, maintenance,
- security, sysadmin functions and administration
- Monitor and optimize Oracle database performance and capacity planning
- Troubleshoot database issues, maintain database systems availability and scalability
- Assist in effort estimating, forecasting, and work planning for resources
- Promote a “one-team” approach for sharing common processes and practices
- Builds a network of strong, collaborative relationships (e.g., with customers, employees,
- business colleagues, and external partners) that increases collaboration and
- communication – Product Development Teams, Architects and Data Architects.
- Analyze data access and modification requirements to ensure efficient SQL and optimal
- database design
- Performs Capacity Planning for storage and performance; includes proper monitoring,
- trend analysis, and modeling.
- Performance-tuning consultation by working closely with software vendors to tune the
- database and meet application specific needs
- Ensures creation of runbooks for vendor partners and service providers in the assembly,
- configuration and administration of the application database
- Develop and Enforce standards, policies, and procedures for managing databases
- Challenges established ways of doing things to improve the organization’s capabilities
- around commitments, actions and results
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8 – 11 years of experience as an Oracle DBA working on Oracle 11g and 12g running on
- RHEL 6 and 7. Certified Oracle DBA a plus
- 8 years of experience supporting Oracle RAC and Data Guard
- 8 years of experience in SQL Performance Tuning
- Working knowledge of operating system internals (Shell scripting, monitoring, debugging)
- in Linux environments is required
- Experience with monitoring tools like Nagios, Graphite, New Relic and Datadog
- Experience working with database and system maintenance procedures
- Experience with automated database migration techniques
- Experience with Agile development methodologies is highly desirable
- Experience with cloud based databases is big plus
- Experience with virtualization in continuous integration environment is highly desirable
- Familiarity with one or more following database technologies is a plus (MySQL, SQL
- Server, DB2-LUW and Postgres)
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in MIS/IT, business administration, or related discipline.
