Job Description :In this position, you will coordinate disaster emergency communications activities that are intended to satisfy the communication system engineering, design, development and implementation of requirements necessary for the successful functioning of FEMA programs. Typical Assignment Include Functioning as a telecommunications technical authority in situations requiring the application of creative, unique or new concepts/solutions to communications challenges by developing objectives, standards, guidelines, plans, training and exercises for the use of telecommunications resources within FEMA and in coordination with Regional stakeholders within the states, Tribes, local jurisdictions, non-governmental organizations and the private sector; Planning, scheduling, acquiring, implementing and testing both voice and data telecommunication systems as well as associated equipment and servicing including developing, revising, and reviewing specifications for new or upgraded telecommunication systems or components; Supporting disaster and emergency response operations by acting in the capacity of a Disaster Emergency Communications (DEC) Group Supervisor to provide emergency communications support to disaster responders and assisting in coordinating external communications support to and with states, Tribes, local jurisdictions, other Federal agencies, non-governmental organizations and private sector partners; and Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. citizen to be considered for this position. All candidates must be able to deploy with little or no advance notice to anywhere in the United States and its territories for an extended period of time. Deployments may include working in excess of eight hours a day, or in excess of 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays, and under stressful, physically demanding, and austere conditions. When activated and deployed, you serve in a federal travel status and are entitled to lodging, transportation and per diem reimbursements for authorized expenses in accordance with federal travel regulations.
