Kafka Engineer

• Responsible for setup of Kafka brokers, Kafka MirrorMakers and Kafka Zookeeper on hosts including a combination of bare metals (BM), VMs and Containers.
• Responsible for monitoring Kafka health metrics via PagerDuty alerts and taking appropriate timely action by following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents
• Responsible for teardown of Kafka brokers, Kakfa MirrorMaker pipelines and Kafka Zookeeper on about to be decommissioned hosts.
• Responsible for normal lifecycle management of Kafka brokers including security patching, adding broker to cluster, removing broker from cluster, restarting broker

Required Qualifications:

• Working Knowledge of Apache Kafka streaming middleware administration
• Knowledge of Linux System Administration including bash, network configuration, disk configuration, virtual memory configuration and other essential system administration
• Strong working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including cloud console
• Basic knowledge of containers including Docker
• Working knowledge of technologies like Ansible, Puppet
