Job Description :

Designs and develops mechanical fluidic, components, subsystems, systems, test plans, etc., to support DNA production and research activities Works as part of a project team and proactively participates in all design team activities. Receives shared supervision from one or more Project Managers, in addition to the Director of Machine Design. Communicates designs through standard engineering documents, technical drawings and CAD data. Works with customers to identify and develop their technical design requirements. Writes design specifications, schedules and status reports. Works with the machine shop on critical parts and seeks advice on best manufacturing practices. Supports project team efforts through CAD work, prototyping, assembly work, and testing. Assists maintenance staff as necessary. Participates in periodic project reviews, identifies technical risks and facilitates communication with colleagues and other departments. Attends conferences and trade shows, reviews journals and otherwise stays abreast of current advances in engineering, manufacturing, and biotechnology fields. Practices safe working habits, follows all IDT safety policies. Identifies, reports and corrects potential safety hazards. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field required. Professional Experience Thorough understanding of engineering and scientific principals and concepts required. Proficiency with CAD software and other modern engineering design software applications required. Other Job Qualifications Ability to interact in a professional manner with suppliers, customers, employees, and all levels of management. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; MS word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio. Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to maintain both a high standard of courtesy and cooperation in dealing with co-workers. Visual Acuity Work requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to read pertinent printed material and distinguish colors. Ability to accurately read measurements on equipment.
