Music teacher - French Immersion Elementary

The ideal teacher will work in collaboration with faculty to implement a creative general music curriculum and provide musical direction for productions. Notre: Particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of the students’ identities, motivate students to develop skills needed for a good foundation for education in accordance with each student’s ability, and establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:

• Establish clear goals and objectives
• Develop and implement a creative general music curriculum for elementary students
• Establish learning objectives consistent with an appraisal of student needs, curriculum framework, and knowledge of human growth and development
• Evaluate student progress using appropriate assessment techniques
• Maintain order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning and take all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
• Counsel pupils when academic and adjustment problems arise
• Confer with parents and students regarding progress/problems of assigned students
• Arrange and participate in teacher-parent or teacher-student conferences as necessary;
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, Board Policy, and Administrative Regulation;
• Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, textbooks, materials, and facilities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills/Qualifications:

• Current Minnesota Elementary licensure required or ability to obtain licensure;
• Speaks French (preferred)
• Ability to work with diverse populations
• Knowledge of school organization, goals and objectives, curriculum, teaching techniques, current trends, research, and materials of instruction in the field of specialization
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning process;
• Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, administrators, colleagues, community, and other school system staff; Excellent oral and communication skills.

Experience:

• Teaching: minimum 1 year (Preferred)

Education:

• Bachelor's or equivalent (Required) 

License:

• Music Education in the State of Minnesota (Preferred)

Language:

• French (Preferred)
