Job Description :

Candidate Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for collecting product sound/NVH requirements for Client products, developing a test and/or simulation plan, executing/overseeing test setups or building simulation models, executing tests, analyzing and/or simulating results, and reporting results and recommendations back to the product design team. This position needs to be able to work independently and direct others.

Typical Day:

  • The position will participate in the test and/or simulation planning with design and other sound engineers. This may involve running simulations of the systems to predict performance and prioritize test focus. The position takes initiative to track down machines, components, and parts and makes sure all instrumentation (microphones, accelerometers) is installed and reading correctly.
  • The position makes sure tests/simulations are executed properly and may need to direct others to collect the data and/or create models. The position will then analyze the data and create summary reports with results and recommendations.

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Physics is required.
  • 5-7 yrs experience in the machine, system, or component noise control through an M.S./PhD program and related work experience is required.
  • The candidate must have performed NVH/Sound modeling of systems as part of their graduate studies or as part of a prior job in the industry.

Technical Skills

  • The agency engineer must have a good understanding of mechanical systems and laboratory or machine testing.
  • This person must have an interest in experimental noise control and be familiar with analytical methods and digital signal processing techniques and systems.
  • Experience and knowledge in instrumentation, noise control devices, testing & analysis and acoustic materials is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to use NVH modeling tools is critical.
  • Exposure to sound quality methods will be desired.

Soft Skills Required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication for directing others and providing reports.
  • Excellent teamwork as the team is lean and needs to be flexible and help each other out.
  • Excellent initiative as the role requires driving thru obstacles not always under the position's control.
  • Excellent learner of new skills in NVH and able to work on innovative technology projects.
