Why would my OPT get denied is hard to believe Does anyone know the reasons?

(1) You've previously utilized OPT for a previous degree that is “at the same level of study”. For example: If you did one Master’s Degree and used your OPT, you won't get a second OPT if you do a second Master’s in the US.
(2) For errors on your form, missing documents or photographs that do not meet standards, you'll usually get an RFE and not an outright rejection.
There could be reasons other than this as well. Ideally, you would get a letter on rejection that states why specifically your OPT was denied.
Always consult your ISO before you apply for your OPT to avoid these situations.

I recently met a student whose OPT was rejected. My understanding is that - there is only 30 days’ time frame to apply for EAD once the school issues the new I-20 for OPT. There was a gross mistake in the timeline that cost him his OPT. I feel so sad for that student.

I guess my answer would be WHY NOT? Don’t get me wrong but given the current sentiment, it’s more about getting jobs first to citizens and permanent residents. Apart from that, there are genuine reasons for lack of documentation etc.

Hello guys! I need some help. I had applied for my STEM extension and received an RFE a month ago asking for proof to show that I had not accumulated more than 90 days of unemployment during my 12 month OPT period. This RFE was requested because my school or DSO did not have my employment recorded for the first 8 months of the 12 month period and only has my current E-Verified employer till present. So I sent them the proof as requested showing evidence of my employment for the first 8 months (voluntary work that I did). BUT IT got DENIED!! My first opt EAD OPT card expired on 4 Jan 2013. I am waiting for the letter for the denial details. Can you guys tell me my options currently?
