My case is weird. The date I requested was August 31 and I got that date. The problem is that I was not approved until 3 OCT !!!
Over 30 days have passed since my start date, but I just received my EAD today.

Hi
I filed mine to start on June 03, 2007, I got 'Approval Notice Sent' notice on July 19th. I still didn't get my EAD Card. I also have the problem of a 12-day gap of being 'out of status', if I get the H1-B Visa (which starts from 1st October 2008).
Does anyone have a similar problem? I heard that we could get I-20 from a school to remain in status. The only problem is the task of finding a good consulting agency that would sponsor us. If anyone has a similar problem or could help me in this matter, please contact me on Yahoo messenger chat, my id is [email protected] (I need to get in touch with some good consulting agencies, your suggestions will be appreciated.)
You may even e-mail me at the above address. Thank you.

Well, I have the same situation I have applied for a start date of September 3rd and what's worse is my application has not been approved so far...
So far I was being told that they would adjust the start date to be the approval date in such a case but hearing your case that does not seem true... this is completely absurd.... they should have the common sense to change the start date in this kind of a situation...
In case you come across a way to adjust this date can you please share the information, I will do the same should I discover something.

Can anyone update with their starting date on the OPT if it is approved after your requested start date? I asked for 10/22 and that is about 60 days after my graduation date (8/26). I am worried that if they change the date to 11/27 (when they approved the case), which is after the 60-day grace period, I will have a problem when I apply for H-1 next year. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

They adjust it sometimes though. A colleague of mine did the same thing and they automatically adjusted his. He did not have to ask for it to be adjusted. I think they usually make the start date the day of approval if your start date has already passed.
I think mine is an error.
I spoke to an advisor at my school and she said they may not consider it an error since it is the day I requested but she is checking on it for me.
I will let you know if I get an update on that.
